WEEK TWELVE

Can a game be marked down because of its intense difficulty? What do you think? Would you give Battletoads the benefit of the doubt? This time in history, Sega's new champion went head-to-head with Nintendo's long-running hero. And who won? Gamers, that's who. :-D

In the end I decided that a game's difficulty shouldn't affect its standing in the test of time. Battletoads is still a fun game, so I let it stand.

I think the next week will be a bit quieter. I hope Ninja Gaiden doesn't give me too many headaches...

1,000 HITS!

The blog hit 1,000 yesterday. Makes me very happy! ^_^ When I decided to play all my old games this year, I was really just doing it for myself. But I'm glad that others can come on this crazy voyage into the past with me. In honour of that milestone (in less than 2 months!) I present a video that should make your jaw hit the floor. It sure tickled my funny bone. Enjoy! ^_^

WEEK ELEVEN

I'm still oohing and aahing at the result I gave to Princess Tomato. Have you played it? Do you think I scored it right? Hmmm...

Have you played any of these games yourself? If so, leave a comment and let us know what you thought of them. Here's what I thought...

The next bunch of games is going to be awesome fun. I can't wait! And I suppose the question everyone will be asking is, "Will he have the perseverence to finish Battletoads?" I can already answer that for you. No.

ALMOST FINISHED "THIS WEEK"

For a game that I've actually really enjoyed, Blaster Master has really managed to p!$$ me off!! I've come to an absolute standstill with the game, and for the moment anyway, I can't progress any further. So I've decided to put it to bed. Hopefully if I'm not as furious with it at a later date, I'll go back to it and try to get to the end. I'm almost done with the other games too, so it hopefully won't be long before the next update.

JUMPING FROM THE PAST TO THE FUTURE

Just wanted to say...

I drove into Melbourne last night and tried out the 3DS. Sweet little device. I was a bit bleugh with the new Nintendogs, but I've gotta say, the 3D effect in Ocarina of Time is amazing. I won't be buying one at launch (I've got too many old games to play!) but we'll see how long I can hold out before I just can't help myself.

It was weird. I missed out on getting a numbered tag - they started giving them away at lunchtime (!) - but the Nintendo guys managed to squeeze me in with another group that was just going in when I arrived. So, essentially I just skipped the entire 3-hour queue for no apparent reason. Bizarre! But awesome! :-D

WEEK TEN

Longest. Episode. Ever. (Sorry!) I didn't actually intend it to be, I just got a bit carried away with Mega Man 2. But hey, there are a few games worth getting carried away over, and that's one of them. ;-)

There was actually a 5th game I intended to chuck into this week, but I might save it for now. Here we have week 10...

And for those of you playing at home...

Any opinions about this week's games? I reckon I'll cop some flack for Street Gangs. I know a lot of people really like it. I didn't hate it, I just didn't find it grabbed me much. Not enough to play through the whole game, anyway.

I'm going into Melbourne tonight to play a 3DS. w00t! Catch ya on the flipside!

EPISODE 10

Wow. For the first time since I started, it actually took me more than a week to play through the games! Admittedly, three of these games were completely new to me, and Faxanadu is pretty epic. Now I'm back at work it's getting tougher to find time to play and/or update the blog, so things might be slowing down. Looks like the next bunch of games are fairly short or basic though, so that's a good thing. Without further ado, here's Episode 10, bringing the total number of games played this year up to 30. Enjoy! :-)

Could it be...? Every game this week stood the test of time? Well, yeah. Just. I definitely enjoyed some of them more than others. But they all still play well and I never got bored, so that definitely goes in their favour.

And that brings the total amount of games I have played through this year to 30. Wow. Thirty games! And it's only just February! How about that! I hope some other people are pulling out their old games and playing them as they see them approaching on the list. (Remember, a link to the complete list is up the top-right of the blog)
